Understanding side effects

BELVIQ® has been clinically tested in more than 6,600 adults. But it’s always important to understand the side effects and inform your doctor of any changes you experience.

The most common side effects of BELVIQ/BELVIQ XR are:

  • headache
  • dizziness
  • fatigue
  • nausea
  • dry mouth
  • constipation
  • cough
  • low blood sugar (in adults with type 2 diabetes)
  • back pain

In clinical studies, 8.6% of adults stopped taking BELVIQ because of side effects, compared with 6.7% of adults using diet and exercise alone. The most common side effects that lead to discontinuation among BELVIQ patients were headache, depression, and dizziness. Like any medication, it’s important to talk with your doctor about whether or not BELVIQ is right for you.
